Introduction to the RED Dragon Camera

A workshop exploring the RED Dragon’s capabilities and workflows, both in pre- and post- production steps. With a 5K Mysterium-X sensor, able to shoot 120 frames-per-second and capture at 14MP resolution, some feel this camera exceeds 35mm film. In this hands on workshop, we will cover the main aspects of using the Red Epic: building the camera, using accessories, navigating the menus, shooting, and working with Red footage.

Instructor: Alex Kingsmill

Alex Kingsmill is a cinematographer and visual effects artist based out of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. His credits include television and web commercials, music videos, episodic TV, short dramatic films, and feature length documentary in both roles. He holds a BFA in Integrated Media from OCAD, and also works as a Camera Trainee with the IATSE 667 International Cinematographers Guild. Alex is also actively involved with Charles Street Video, an artist run center for independent filmmakers in Toronto. Alex sits on the board of directors, and teaches workshops for CSV members on various cameras, and post-production softwares and techniques.
