Instructor: Elinor Svoboda

Elinor Svoboda is a Toronto based filmmaker, sound designer and arts educator. Her short films has spanned the genres of science fiction, documentary and experimental. Her work has screened at Fantasia Film Festival (Merus Breach, 2013), the NFB and the TIFF Bell Lightbox. In 2012 she was Juno and Grammy nominated for her short music documentary featuring Canadian musicians Tegan and Sara in Tegan and Sara get along: INDIA.

Elinor has over 10 years of industry experience as a audio technician. She has worked both on set as a field audio recordist and in post production as a mixer and sound designer. This technical training has given her a unique position as both a seasoned industry professional and a filmmaker who approaches the medium from an audio-centric position.

In 2016, she completed her MFA at York University. Her thesis film, A Drop Across, a short science fiction film that explores the multiverse, is now on the international festival circuit. She currently teaches in the Bachelor of Film and Television program at Sheridan College in Oakville.
