Designed for artists installing their own work or artists looking to be informed on working with and what to expect from installation workers. This workshop will introduce participants to the process and logistics of installing media arts focused exhibitions. Topics covered will be: assessing installation spaces, assembling installation kits, time management, creative problem solving, accessibility considerations and the relationship between installation planning and curation. Experiences and techniques gathered from working with artists on the margins will form the foundation of this workshop.

Instructor: Parker DirksParker Dirks is a trans interdisciplinary artist and installations specialist. For a decade, Parker has worked on arts and theater projects across the GTA. From 2017 to 2020, Parker worked as the installations and gallery technician at the Margin of Eras Gallery. Their installation work is based in providing comprehensive installation services with a focus on access and centering artists creating from the margins. |
