A CSV Gallery Exhibition by Roslyn Kalloo

Thu 15 September 2022
to Fri 16 September 2022

Where: CSV Gallery, 76 Geary Avenue
When: September 15th and 16th from 7pm to 10pm

During our Anniversary celebrations!

This installation was originally mounted by Charles Street Video at its former location of 65 Bellwoods Avenue, as part of the group show Orifice, commissioned by the Images Festival in 2000.

Viewers are invited to gaze through a peephole into the former A Room Edit suite, to witness an editing session in progress with the artist bh Yael. The typically private collaboration between editor and artist is revealed, a process usually hidden like picture editing itself, often referred to as “the invisible art”.

Remounted here, this installation becomes a portal into the past, a glimpse into the anxious, meandering, hilarious, therapeutic, thoughtful discussions in the now non existent edit rooms of CSV, where many of Canada's foremost artists once came to assemble their work.

The A room online edit suite was the most high tech facility in the arts community during the 80’s to the mid 2000’s and the throbbing heart of CSV. It was constructed with great care with the intent to give the artists access to state of the art, professional equipment, and was a sacred place for sharing and a crucible for the creative process.
