The Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art is pleased to invite you to the opening reception of MOCCA’s new exhibition, Vera Frenkel: Ways of Telling. Vera is a long time member and former Artist In Residency at Charles Street Video.
OPENING RECEPTION
Vera Frenkel: Ways of Telling is a comprehensive presentation of the work of the Toronto-based artist whose interdisciplinary approach to video, performance, sculpture, printmaking, and installations has earned widespread international acclaim. The exhibition showcases rarely seen early works such as The Storyteller’s Device, alongside more recent projects such as ONCE NEAR WATER: Notes from the Scaffolding Archive, and the monumental, multichannel video/photo project, The Blue Train. The exhibition also features a reconstruction of the artist’s storied six-channel video installation and fully functioning piano bar …from the Transit Bar, being installed as a special presentation of the NGC@MOCCA program. Pianist/composer Tom Szczesniak will play the Transit Bar piano at the opening and during the exhibition.
