How do we make music using the things around us? Ever thought that anything, really anything with metals or liquids inside could be transformed into a musical instrument? That's what we are here for!

Soundhackers teams up with Conductive Music from the UK to present this special workshop on using DIY electronics to generate sound and music in the computer.

Also, we'll give you a snippet on how to augment your garments, and transform them into e-Wearables.
We will be using the popular boards MakeyMakey and Floras.

No prior knowledge needed

This session will boost your creative approach and introduce new ways of thinking emerging technologies. If you are a teacher, we will share our tips and tricks to engage with children through tech. If you are an enthusiastic hobbyist, we will provide you with very interesting cross-disciplinary ideas, so you will be able to adapt our workshop to your expertise.

We will think 'outside the box' by teaching you complex skillsets in a very accessible manner. You will get to create a basic interface and your own piece of music - no prior knowledge required!

Requirements: bring your laptop, with headphones and a USB adaptor (if you are on the newest macs). If you don't have a laptop, do come along anyway, we'll find a way, sharing is caring.

Knowledge needed: passion and curiosity is all you need. We will start from scratch and not skip any step.

About our guest presenter:

Dr. Enrico Bertelli founded Conductive Music CIC in 2012 to support young people in the creation and performance of their own music. As a teacher and researcher, he focuses on the Conductive Music remit of engaging children from challenging backgrounds through open source technology. As a performer with 15 years of international experience, his background is in percussion and technology, applied to Contemporary Classical acoustic and electroacoustic performance, with an international career as a practitioner, as well as a workshop leader. He regularly tours internationally, delivering workshops, lectures and concerts throughout Europe, Japan, Thailand, Hong Kong.
