Still Life with a Suitcase

Thu 25 July 2019
7 - 10 pm

Toronto premiere of an interactive, cinematic installation about transnational Russian migration as told through objects, where the audience determines how the story unfolds.

For the Toronto exhibition, the artist created a series of linoprints retracing his migration journey using imaginary maps.

Join us for the opening party on July 25, 7-10PM in CSV's location at Toronto Media Arts Centre

Gregory Gan's interactive multi-media installation invites visitors to control the flow of a documentary film by interacting with a set of clay objects and a suitcase. As a visitor picks up and places an object inside a suitcase, they trigger a vignette telling the story of that object. The installation is based on multi-sited research on transnational migrants between Moscow, Paris, Berlin and New York.

This exhibition runs from July 25-August 9
