This residency is presented as part of the “Digital Skills for Youth” program coordinated by the Independent Media Arts Alliance and funded by the Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada.
Charles Street Video is seeking to commission an emerging artist to create a new media art piece that specifically utilizes the in-house mapping and projection capabilities within the context of CSV's space. This may involve multiple, simultaneous projections, complex audio components, as well as haptic elements that affect the imagery in real time. The successful candidate will work with mentors and CSV staff to hone their skills and develop their proposed installation.
Our expectation is that the residency will culminate in a final presentation and/or exhibition of a piece or accumulation of.pieces that incorporate interactive media and projection mapping.
Requirements:
The candidate
- must propose a realistic project that can be produced during the tenure of this residency;
- must be 30 years of age or under at the start of the residency;
- must be legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e., is a citizen, permanent resident or person with refugee status; foreign nationals with work permits only are ineligible);
- self-identify as un- or under-employed (i.e., employed below your level of education, holding part-time employment, or working in an emerging field with few available jobs);
- must have completed post-secondary studies.
This is a paid position, funded through the Digital Skills for Youth program administered by the Independent Media Arts Alliance, with funding from the Government of Canada. We are hoping to engage an artist for 21 – 28 hrs./ week for up to 8 weeks for a wage of $25/ hr.
