 Programme:7th Generation Image Makers 047th Generation Image Makers is a Native youth and art program based out of Native Child & Family Services of Toronto and have worked with at-risk Native youth in Toronto creating murals and art projects such as regalia making, painting, mixed media and photography. In August, 2004, 7th Generation Image Makers explored video media for the first time. As part of the Tauqsiijiit residency at the Art Gallery of Ontario, 7th Generation Image Makers worked with a group of 4-5 youth who have had limited access to video technology. They learned about conceptualizing, shooting and editing their own short videos and using the media arts to raise awareness about Inuit, First Nations and personal representation. Participants were given the opportunity to show their work on-line as part of an internet blogging site as well as an art exhibit at the AGO during the Planet IndigenoUs Festival hosted by the Harbourfront Centre in August, 2004. Charles Street Video provided equipment, workshops and services to aid in the 7th Generation production. CSV also provided one-year memberships to all youth participants, and along with 7th Generation Image Makers, is considering the possibility of establishing a post-program mentorship opportunity whereby youth participants continue to gain video production training throughout the year, with the support of both organizations.
