In this workshop, you will practice lighting and setting up scenes in the context of various film genres and plot scenarios from a cinematographer's perspective. We will experiment with using light qualities such as color, soft/hard light, and contrast for visual expression. Each participant will have the chance to work on a scene in a genre of their choice, such as drama, romcom, comedy, horror, thriller, and action.

Insturctors: Nikita Brusnitsyn, Michael Cao
Nikita Brusnitsyn is a Russian/Canadian cinematographer who focuses on narrative, commercial, and documentary filmmaking. He attended the film program at Centennial College where he became infatuated with the world of lighting and cinematography. After graduating, Nikita began shooting low budget projects, getting experience with narrative, commercial, and documentary work. He also worked as a gaffer on various feature films under many talented directors of photography who mentored and inspired him throughout his experience. Since then, Nikita has worked as a director of photography on three independent feature films, multiple short films, and commercials.
