Efficient Editing on Premiere Pro

This workshop will aim to increase the efficiency of your editing in Premiere Pro. It is best suited for those just starting out in editing (1-2 years of experience or less) and want to make their workflow more efficient using different tools and keyboard shortcuts. We will also discuss best practices in media organization and how to become a more confident editor in indie filmmaking. Participants will be provided with editing hardware and software but are encouraged to bring their own laptops with Premiere if possible. This workshop will be both Mac and Windows friendly.

Instructor: Carolyn (Jay) Wu

Carolyn (Jay) Wu -they/them- is a non-binary settler working in Tkaronto of Hong Kong diaspora. They are a writer, director, development executive, and community organizer. Their film IN MY MOTHER’S CLOSET has screened at Wicked Queer: Boston LGBT Film Festival, and Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival. Their most recent short film project TOE THE LINE (2021) won Breakthroughs Film Festival’s 2019 Pitch Competition. JO (2018) has more than 8 million views on YouTube. They are currently a development executive at Bell Media where they develop content for national broadcaster CTV and Canadian streaming service Crave. Carolyn moved from intern to leading national television show Q on CBC Television through a total rebranding as Acting Senior Producer from 2015-2017. Carolyn also started and co-organizes Colour Theory, an event that celebrates short films of all sizes, genres, and budgets made exclusively by Black, Indigenous, or people of colour filmmakers who identify as 2SLGBTQ (2SQTBIPOC). They use filmmaking to make their bold POV as a Canto transmasculine storyteller known. They focus on intimate character-driven stories that centre the voices of racialized queer and gender-diverse people, always. Carolyn strives to continue disrupting film industry and building space for racialized queers to heal, create, and thrive.
