The lens sets come with two sets of interchangable aperture disks (ovals, soft focus, defocus distortion, apodised, translucent etc)
About the aperture disks:
Set 1: machined metal disks, blacked. - these are opaque and do not affect the hue of the image. These shape bokeh into various difference patterns - the most popular being the oval apertures that very realistically impersonate anamorphic defocus distortion. There are also other simple shapes like ninja stars and three blade trianular aperture shapes. The simple shapes some in three different f stops and in multiples of four so each lens can be pre installed so they all match for faster workflow when changing lenses. This set also includes many more complex shapes and soft focus aperture disks for more weired effects.
Set 2: Acetate/parchment disks, transluscent, colour pigment. - these are a set of various coloured disks that allow light to pass through the surface and respond to changes in lighting in a scene. A blue pigment will create a blue shadow lift on dark areas of a shot when a light source comes into the shot. The level of shadow lift is dependent on the contrasts of the lighting. Backlighting a human head and then illuminating the face from the side will result in the shadows of the skin being shadow lifted in blue. With creative colour correction onto footage shot in this way it's similar to asking a colourist to correct for outdated or heat damaged film stock. The results can be very pleasing if done methodically. A warm scene using the teal pigmented disks or a cold scene using the amber pigmented disks and then the result corrected for leaves a baked in stylisation that is really special.
